Dr Helen Durell

Dr Durell studied medicine at UWA with specialisation in Rural and Remote and Aboriginal Health in 2009. Her initial hospital years were spent at Fremantle, Peel, Albany and Armadale Health Campuses. Here she furthered her interest in General Practice with a prevocational GP Obstetrics term and then an extended term in Emergency Medicine.

Helen completed her GP training in 2017 and has more recently trained in focussed psychological strategies to be able to provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Outside of medicine, she is a busy mum of 4 young children and spends any free time wearing them out at our beautiful parks and beaches. Helen enjoys musical theatre, aqua fitness, cross-stitch, cooking and creating overly themed parties for her kids.

Albany is Helen’s hometown and she finds it a privilege to be able to return to work in this environment and community.

Helens special interests include:

  • family medicine
  • women’s and children’s health
  • eating disorders
  • mental health
  • preventative health care.
